Google announced yesterday that they will be cracking down on popups that affect user experience on mobile devices. That means that your popup could affect your ranking. Take a look at the handy graphics they created to help you decide if your popup is one that will be penalized:

Keep in mind that if your site has great content, this penalty may not effect it much, but if you see your rankings start dropping soon after January 10, 2017, when this new indexing method takes effect, you may want to rethink your popup.
