When I meet with new clients, they often ask to use images that they have downloaded off the internet assuming that if they can download it, that it’s free to use. This is NOT the case. Many photos and clipart are copyrighted and cannot be used on a commercial website without a fee. There are legal ramifications to this.
Another risk of downloading free media and software from the internet are scam networks. Sucuri just had a blog post about these scam sites:
allfilesdownload .us
androidepisode .com
bestbooksfiles .com
greataudiosdownloads .com
greatvideosdownloads .com
mediasearchdirect .com
mfileshare .com
morenewmedianow .com
mydigitalfinderone .com
newfastmediasearcher .com
onlinebooksfiles .com
promediasearch .com
starmediasearcher .com
saveclip .net
urlmediafiles .com
worldbooksdownloads .com
yourfreemediadownloads .com
yournetmediastore .com
yourpromptdownloader.com

Know where you are downloading media from and remember that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is! Read the full article here.
