I just found out about this great site that helps you test your responsive design on different devices. My first line of testing as always been changing the size of the browser window, but things don’t always look the same. I have seen sites like this before in the past and used them, but I never found them to be very accurate either. This one, however, I find to be pretty close.
This site quickly allows you to see your site on an iphone 3/4 & 5, “crappy” android (240 x 360), Nexus 4, ipad and kindle. All in both in portrait as well as landscape. You can see them all quickly on one screen without having to click buttons to see a different device or change the orientation. I’ve seen sites with more device options, but I think this covers the most important ones.
Of course, you should always test on the real devices, but this can speed things up. I get tired of pulling out all my devices and there’s always a new device coming out. So give it a try and let me know your thoughts or if you have a different way you prefer testing.
Before I hit the “publish” button, a friend just told me about http://www.studiopress.com/responsive/. It’s
*Special note: If your theme is set to detect mobile devices, this site does not show that, only responsive designs.
