The Signature Add-On for Gravity Forms gives you the option to have customers sign forms right on your site. It’s super easy.
6/24/13 Update: The signature is saved as a PNG image. For security reasons, it is not sent with the usual notification of all items. In order to send a link to the signature with your notification, simply add the merge tag from the drop down on the right to your notification. If you want to include the actual signature as an attachment so that the signature shows, you’ll need to add this code to your notification.
Be sure to replace with your own signature merge tag and ID#. If you are having problems seeing the signature in your email, make sure images are enabled in your email. Sometimes there is a link to “Display Images”.

Hey Laura–thanks for the informative post!
Do you know if I can buy this add-on ala carte without having to purchase the GF developer’s license?
Laura Hartwig says
Glad you liked the post. Unfortunately, as far as I know, you must have the developers license to use this add-on. That said, I find the developers license very useful because of all the other add-ons that come with it. There are probably ways to get around it using other plugins, but I know this particular add-on works. Good luck!

Did you read the bottom part of the post with the update? You need to add

to your notification. Be sure to replace with your own signature merge tag and ID#.Charles says

I used merge ID, Even it does not work. It shows like a black box “”.
Any thought.

Hi Charles,
Yes, I did use the signature with the notification. However, this tutorial was written in 2013, so maybe there have been changes since then. I do know that sometimes png images display with a black background. Are you able to see the images correctly in the notifications area? Did you try downloading the image and viewing? Gravity Forms support is really great, so give them a try. I’d love to hear back from you when you figure out what the problem is. Thanks!

Hey Laura,
Thanks for this fantastic article about the Gravity Forms Signature add-on. Since the current Gravity Forms Signature Add-On isn’t UETA/ESIGN compliant. There’s now a UETA/ESIGN compliant version of this add-on that connects to WP E-Signature. It’s available here on the WordPress Repository (but you’ll need the WP E-Signature plugin to connect the two worlds). http://wordpress.org/plugins/gravity-signature-forms-add-on
Cheers,
Kevin

Thanks for letting me know about this!

Hi Kevin, I’m getting ready to speak at WordCamp NYC about Gravity Forms and was going to include a mention of your new plugin. I’ve been going over the details but I’m still a little confused. I see that for this to work, I actually need several ApproveMe add-ons. It looks like I need the Stand Alone Doc add-on, which seems to only be available with the $197 license. Is that correct? Is that fee for one year or lifetime? And is it for one site, or could I buy it as a developer and use it for all my clients? Thanks in advance for the info.

Unfortunately the signature add-on plugin for Gravity Forms is preventing my notifications from sending. I can send notifications for any of my forms that do not have a signature field, but the ones that do, the email is never able to go through. I have done a complete troubleshoot by deactivating all plugins and reverting to the original theme, but the problem still persists. I hope you are able to help provide some additional information regarding this issue.
