Occasionally the design of a website will call for a tiny video thumbnail, which would be impossible to watch in that tiny size. So I like to use WP Video Lightbox so that when you click on the video, it will open in a lightbox. The plugin has many options including one to give the video a custom thumbnail. Overall, it is extremely useful and I recommend to use it on any website with videos. It gives the video a very nice interface.
You can embed a video with a shortcode like this:
[video_lightbox_youtube video_id=XX width=640 height=480]
Or embed it with a thumbnail like this:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7z74BvLWUg" rel="wp-video-lightbox" title=""><img src="http://example.com/images/thumbnails/youtube.jpg" alt="YouTube" width="60" /></a>
Of course, replace the video link here with your video link and replace the image link here with the thumbnail you would like to use. Just be sure to add that
rel="wp-video-lightbox" to make sure it works. It’s that easy!
