WooCommerce is an incredible plugin, especially because it is free, but it is a basic shopping cart, and there are great plugins that you can use to extend it’s functionality even more. Recently I tried out a few by YITH, and was very happy with the results.
YITH Essential Kit for WooCommerce #1 Has a lot of options all in one plugin, but since I recommend only installing what you need and not bloating your website, I recommend you take a look at these and only install the individual components you need.
YITH WooCommerce Quick View is a great option for the “Quick View”. It is very easy to set up and adds a link automatically on your catalog page. I can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t want to offer this option to your customers.
YITH WooCommerce Zoom Magnifier This is another super simple plugin. Install it and it works. There are a few options, if you are interested, but you can mostly just leave these. Again, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to offer your customers this nice option to zoom in on your photos.
YITH WooCommerce Compare This nifty little plugin allows users to compare multiple products by things like price, description, and all those product attributes you took so much time setting up. It also includes an add to cart button.
I have a client who sells electric bikes, and this plugin was perfect to allow customers to compare tires, battery, and driving range. Again, install it and it works. There are a few things you can configure if you want to, but it couldn’t get much easier. Visit my customer’s site to see the compare option in use: http://www.ebikesbyrevolve.com/electric-bikes/. His site also uses the Quick View plugin and the Zoom plugin.
YITH WooCommerce Wishlist This plugin offers a nice functionality, but it requires you to remove certain pages from any kind of caching plugin you are using. The site I tried to use it on had conflicts with the theme that the theme author was still trying to work out and it just didn’t seem to work as well as it should have.
Finally, one other plugin that I’m going to recommend for Woo that isn’t in the YITH suite and it is WooCommerce Product Archive Customiser. It allows you to decide how many product columns you want and how many products you want to show on a page. Seems like something that should have been in Woo anyway, but it can make things much easier.
If you have WooCommerce site and you haven’t installed some of these plugins, you’re missing out on some great functionality that your customers will appreciate.
