The new Gravity Forms update now allows for calculations – a great functionality! But how to use it is not quite clear. So here is a tutorial explaining how I created the form below.
Calculations are also available with the pricing fields, but those are calculated automatically by using the total button, so that is not covered here.
The form below is similar to the one used in the video, but I have removed “Uses” and changed the name of “Disbursement” to “Qty of Product A Requested” in hopes that it will make more sense. I hope that’s not too confusing. Please try out the form below to see how it works. I have made an additional Product field show up when Product B is filled out by using Conditional Logic. Learn more about conditional logic here:
https://wpdecoder.com/plugins/gravity-forms-tutorial-part-3-how-to-use-conditional-logic/
If you test out the form, you will notice that I have also used conditional logic to show more fields when the first two are filled. To see how to do that, please see my tutorial here:

Thanks for the tutorial. Not an obvious feature at first glance. Thought I was going to have to write something custom…. You made my day 🙂

Glad I could help!

It may be worth noting that the fields you are looking to calculate need to be saved to the form before they appear in the “Insert Merge Tag” drop down.

Great point, thanks!

Wait, how did you create the form field for changing quantity using the in field up/down option? I’m referring to the actual form on this page, not the video. You have the quantity boxes and you can either directly input the number, or increase/decrease quantity with the arrows in the field.
Laura Hartwig says
Hi Alex, those fields are created using the Number field from the Standard Fields option. When you use that field type, the up down arrows will be created automatically.

Hi Laura,
First and foremost your posts are so useful. Thanks for sharing.
I can not figure how to have those arrows showing in the number field.
Would you have any suggestion please?
Thanks!
Laura Hartwig says
The arrows should show up when you select the field. Have you tried putting your mouse in the field? If this doesn’t work, send me a link to your form and I will take a look.

Thanks! Do you have any advice for creating a calculation off selections made from radio buttons choices or drop down boxes? Perhaps you have an article you already addressed and can can point me at?
Laura Hartwig says
Hi Alex, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You can use radio buttons and dropdown boxes the same way. I have added a radio button with the test form on this post so you can see how it works. Just add it to your total calculation just like you would the other items and you can see that it will add it up. Hope this helps!

We might have to get creative, but let me know exactly what you’d like to do and I’ll take a stab at it.
